Motor Vehicle tag renewals are due on the owner’s birthday. If you were a resident of Brooks County last year and renewed your tag in Brooks County last year, then you should receive a bill 60 days prior to your birthday in the mail. If you did not, bring your registration with tag number to the Tax Commissioner’s Office.

– A third party may request your registration providing the following documents are presented:
(1) Signed notification from the taxpayer.
(2) Copy of taxpayer’s driver’s license.
– Vehicle year model 1986 or newer: Original Title, Proof of Georgia based insurance (30 Day Binder from insurance carrier), Georgia Driver License or Georgia Identification Card
– Vehicle year model 1985 or older: Bill of Sale, Proof of Georgia based insurance (30 Day Binder from insurance carrier), Georgia Driver License or Georgia Identification Card
– Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) is based on 7% of the vehicle’s value as reported by the Department of Revenue Motor Vehicle Division.

Although applications may be submitted at any time, the deadline for a current billing year is April 1.
